If you're planning your child's birthday party, you'll want to rent some, if not all, of your party supplies. Things like tables, chairs, and even tents, are much less cost-prohibitive when they're rented. Besides, what are you going to do with dozens of tables and chairs once the event is over? Before you rent your supplies, however, there are some questions you should ask your vendor. Here are four questions you'll want to have answered before you rent your party supplies.

Are There Additional Fees?

When you're renting party supplies, you want to know what all the fees will be before you sign a contract. The last thing you want is to sign a contract only to find out that there were hidden costs that you weren't aware of. Before you agree to the rental, make sure you get all the fees documented in writing. This will help you, and the vendor, avoid frustration.

Is There a Cancellation Policy?

When it comes to planning your child's party, you want to make sure there's a policy in place for cancellation. After all, you never know when your child is going to get sick. If that happens, you might need to cancel the celebration. You don't want to get stuck paying for party supplies that you're not going to use. Make sure that you know the cancellation policy before you rent your supplies. It's also a good idea to find out if they have a policy in place for rescheduling. If your child does get sick, and you have to cancel the party, find out if the party supply company will allow you to reschedule for a later date.

What Are the Charges for Damages?

When planning a party for kids, it's important for you to plan for damages. This is particularly true if you're going to be renting things that are easily damaged by rough play or little hands, such as table linens and bounce houses. Instead of suffering from sticker shock once damages occur, be prepared for the possibility by asking about charges for damages in advance.

Are the Supplies Sanitized?

When it comes to kids, you want to make sure that the things you're renting are as sanitary as possible, especially the things that the kids will be touching, like the chairs. While you're arranging the rental, ask if the supplies will be sanitized prior to delivery. If they aren't, you can be prepared with a can of sanitizing spray when the supplies arrive. This will ensure that your littlest party guests won't come in contact with germs from a previous event.
