It can be overwhelming and frustrating trying to prepare for a trade show, especially if it is your first one and/or you are a small business owner. Going into it, make sure to find out as many details as you can about the space that you will be setting up in. Once that information has been gathered, you can started outlining how you will show off your company. Here are five tips that will help make your trade show a hit:

Tip #1: Make Sure Your Display Table Will Stand Out.

Your display table at the trade show is one of the first things that people will see, so it is imperative that you do whatever you can to make it stand out. In most cases, it will come supplied with a tablecloth. However, it will probably be a generic white cloth, which is very eye-appealing. You can either bring your own that complements your overall display and company's color scheme or you can bring a table runner that does the same.

Tip #2: Use Slide Shows and/or Video to Draw Attention.

Anything on TV monitors will draw the attention of exhibit attendees. You will need TV monitors as well as racks and/or stands to mount the flat screens in addition to the various cables to hook it all up. If you do not currently have this type of equipment, you can purchase it if you plan to do trade shows frequently or you can opt to borrow or rent the equipment.

Tip #3: Don't Forget to Have Giveaways.

At a trade show, it is all about giveaways. In fact, many people who come to trade shows actually expect to go home with some goodies. So, make sure that you have some promotional items with your business information/logo on them, such as magnets, pens, stickers, bracelets, etc.

Tip #4: Offer Some Prize Draws.

The promotional giveaways will help to pull in a large crowd to your booth. So, while they're there, make to have some time of contest or prize draw. This not only gives the attendees something to look forward to winning, but it also provides you with a way to get their information to be used at a later date. They can either fill out a ticket, drop a business card into a bowl or something similar. Try to tie the prize in with your business, if at all possible, while also ensuring that it is appealing to most people.

Tip #5: Promote Your Exhibit on Social Media.

Hopefully, your company is on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets already. Make sure to use social media to inform your existing customers that you are going to have a booth at an upcoming trade show and would love for them to swing by. Encourage them to share with their friends as well – the more, the merrier!
